TPG made its mark on the Australian internet landscape selling cheap ADSL plans, and it's continued this approach with the NBN. While the NBN business model means pricing across providers is reasonably similar, TPG is nonetheless a very competitive player. And the telco is well-respected when it comes to speed, which is a key factor for Australian consumers.
Most of TPG's NBN plans are unlimited, so the main choice you need to make is what speed you need. You have three options:
Given that the difference between Standard and Fast is $10 a month (and Fast can be as much as four times faster), we'd recommend Fast for most customers.
How does TPG compare to other NBN providers for speed? Compare here.
However, if you would like to save a little extra, TPG offers two cheaper Standard plans:
TPG NBN plans are available on either an 18-month contract or on a month-to-month basis. If you go month-to-month, you'll need to pay a $99.95 set up fee.
All TPG NBN plans include pay-as-you-go calls, but you can add unlimited calls for $10 per month. This covers local, standard national, and national mobile numbers.
If you’re still keen on home phones, TPG may be for you. TPG has home phone bundles with NBN, Fibre to the Building and ADSL2+ internet plans. You can choose to pay-as-you-go, or choose from national and international call options.
TPG generally relies on low prices year-round, rather than lots of tactical deals. We check TPG’s NBN plans multiple times a week, so you can always find the latest deals here.
To find out if you're eligible for a TPG NBN plan, first check your address in our broadband search engine. If TPG is listed in the search results, congratulations: you can make the switch.
Once you've picked a plan that works for you and your family, you can place an order directly with TPG either by phone or online. TPG will help you to organise an installation date and time, plus take care of transferring any current broadband plan you may have over to its NBN service.
TPG will provide you with an NBN-ready modem as part of your plan.
Another important thing to note: while installation is free for most customers, if you're located in a newly developed area with no existing telecommunications infrastructure, you may be charged a $300 New Development Fee by NBN Co.
How fast are TPG NBN plans?
TPG sells plans configured on NBN 12, NBN 50, and NBN 100 speed tiers. You can read more information NBN speeds here.
What are my data options?
Most TPG NBN plans have unlimited, but you can pick from 10GB or 100GB plans if you're signing up for a NBN 12 plan.
What happens if I exceed my data allowance?
If you exceed your data allowance, TPG will slow your internet connection for the remainder of your billing month. On the 10GB plan, you'll be slowed to 32kbps. On the 100GB plan, you'll be slowed to 128kbps.
Do I need to buy a new modem to sign up to TPG?
If you already have a NBN-ready modem or router that is suitable for your technology type, you can use it with any TPG NBN plan. TPG plans do however include pre-configured, ready-to-use modems.
What happens if I want to cancel my TPG NBN plan?
If you want to cancel your TPG NBN plan and have signed a 18-month contract, you will be charged an early termination fee of up to $350.
