Why choose Internode for NBN?

Internode is a longstanding Australian internet service provider that has historically been favoured by the enthusiast market. The company's positive reputation eventually led to it being acquired by iiNet, who in turn was acquired by TPG in 2015.

While Internode may have new corporate masters, it still offers a number of niche features appeal to its original base. An extra $10 per month gives you a static IP address (which is ideal if you're running a server at home or need to remotely access your devices at home while on the go), and faster shaping when you go over monthly quota.

Internode is also one of the Australian ISPs that offers Fetch TV services. You can add Fetch TV to your Internode broadband plan for $10 per month. This includes the Fetch TV Mini and one Premium channel pack. Extra packs can be added for another $6 each, or alternatively, you can pay $25 per month for the set-top box and all four channel packs. 

Types of Internode NBN plans

Internode has nine standard NBN plans to pick from. To work out which one is best for you, you'll need to work out how much data you want and pick your NBN speed. These are your options for data:

• 100GB
• 500GB
• Unlimited

100GB is fine if you just want a basic internet plan for a little bit of browsing and emails, but we'd recommend 500GB at a minimum. 

These are your options for speed:

• NBN Bronze (NBN 12)
• NBN Gold (NBN 50)
• NBN Platinum (NBN 100)

Once again, NBN Bronze is fine if you just want a basic connection, but we'd recommend NBN Gold as your go to speed.

How to switch to Internode NBN

To find out if you're eligible for an Internode NBN plan, first check your address in our broadband search engine. If Internode is listed in the search results, congratulations: you're able to make the switch.

Once you've picked the plan that works best for you and your family, you can place an order directly with Internode either by phone or online. Internode will help you to organise an installation date and time, plus take care of transferring any current broadband plan you may have over to their own NBN service.

Internode will provide you with a NBN-ready modem as part of your plan.

Another important thing to note: while installation is free for most customers, if you're located in a newly developed area with no existing telecommunications infrastructure, you may be charged a $300 New Development Fee by NBN Co.

How fast are Internode NBN plans?

Internode sells plans configured on NBN 12, NBN 50, and NBN 100 speed tiers. You can read more information NBN speeds here.

What are my data options?

Internode NBN plans come with a choice of 100GB, 500GB, or unlimited data.

What happens if I exceed my data allowance?

If you go over your data allowance, your service will be slowed to 256kbps for the remainder of your billing month. Internode won't charge you any extra. If you do need a top-up, you can buy a "data block". These start at $5 for an extra 2GB and go as high as $80 for 200GB. Data blocks will only last for the billing month you purchased them in, and any unused data will be forfeited when you move onto your next billing cycle.

Do I need to buy a new modem to sign up to Internode?

If you already have a NBN-ready modem or router that is suitable for your technology type, you can use it with any Internode NBN plan. Internode plans do however include pre-configured, ready-to-use modems.

What happens if I want to cancel my Internode NBN plan?

If you want to cancel your Internode NBN plan and have signed a 24-month contract, you will be charged an early termination fee. This fee will decrease over time.
