Exetel NBN plans

Most popular Exetel NBN plans

Exetel NBN plans are about choice and great value. In terms of your speed, your choices are:

  • Standard (NBN 25)
  • Standard Plus (NBN 50)
  • Premium (NBN 100)

A Standard Plus speed plan should provide enough bandwidth to support a family of four mid to heavy internet users. A Premium speed plan is best suited to families of four or more or anyone who regularly downloads or uploads large files.

Exetel NBN plans are contract-free and can be bundled with a modem for no extra cost. However, if you leave within your first six months, you'll be charged a $79 modem fee.

If you need a home phone, all Exetel plans come with pay-as-you-go (PAYG) calls to local, national and Australian mobile numbers. Or you can add a $10 call pack which comes with unlimited calls to local, national and Australian mobile numbers plus unlimited international calls to the UK, New Zealand, USA, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, France, Canada, China and Singapore.

Exetel home wireless

Home wireless broadband is a relatively new option for home internet on the Australian market, but it's popularity is growing fast. Home wireless is internet delivered over the same networks used by your smartphone. And it's a great option if your home doesn't have a fixed line connection or if your fixed line connection doesn't perform as well as you would like it to. It can also be handy if you move around a lot and want an internet connection you can take with you.

Exetel's home wireless plans deliver internet over the Optus 4G network. The plans come with 250GB of data included and download speeds of up to 12Mbps, which is equivalent to the slowest NBN speed tier.

You can pick from a 12-month contract or a contract-free plan. If you opt for a 12-month contract, you'll get the modem at half-price.

Exetel fibre to the basement

If you live in an apartment building, it's possible that you can sign up for one of Exetel's fibre plans. These plans give you access to fibre networks that have been installed by private companies in certain apartment buildings in some areas of Australia. These private networks are actually separate to the NBN and can be used as an NBN alternative.

Exetel even offers some of the same speed tiers as the NBN on fibre. You can choose from:

  • Fibre 12 (equivalent to NBN 12)
  • Fibre 25 (equivalent to NBN 25)
  • Fibre 100 (similar to NBN 100)

All Exetel fibre plans have unlimited data.

Questions we're asked about Exetel

Can I get Exetel internet at my address?
There's a good chance you can. Run an address search here to see.
Do I need to have a landline?
You only need an active landline for an ADSL2+ connection, because data is transferred across the old copper phone lines. You don't need a phone line for any other connection type, but you can bundle one with your NBN if you need it.
Can I BYO modem with Exetel internet?
So long as the modem is compatible, you should be able to. For example, you will need a VDSL modem for the NBN, but many older ADSL modems don't support this, so you might need to upgrade.
Can I keep my home phone number when switching to Exetel?
Yes, in most cases there are no problems moving your number to a new service.
